Sometimes, you will be offered a permanent position by the organisation that is contracting your services. If this occurs, you must contact us immediately. Whether or not you accept the offer is entirely your decision. How long will it take to secure my first contract? This will depend greatly on what skills you have, your previous experience, your availability and market demand. Generally, it takes a little longer to secure your first assignment because you'll often be short listed against seasoned contract executives. Organisations typically prefer experienced contractors. How regular will the flow of assignments be? This will depend greatly on what skills you have, your previous experience, your availability and market demand. There are many individuals who become "career contract executives". Typically, they have deep specialisation that they apply across a breadth of organisations. How long is the usual assignment? This will depend greatly on your area of specialisation. For example, IT contractors will often work for between six months and two years on a single assignment. An accounting, human resources, marketing or communication professional may find their assignments typically last for between two and eight months. A project management or supply chain contractor may enjoy six to twelve month assignments on average. Will I know up front how long an assignment will be? You will always be given an indication up front of how long an assignment will be. If you accept an assignment, it is expected that you will fully complete it. Frequently, the length of contracts extends while you are on assignment. For example, a contract expected to last for three months becomes a six-month assignment. |
