SHK psychological assessment
Gathering objective and unbiased data based on target competencies is beneficial in the selection process. Competencies (defined as an individual’s skills, knowledge and attitudes that drive superior performance in a given role) can be assessed in the selection process systematically through behavioural interviews, reference checking and psychological assessment.
SHK's experienced psychologists select and use the very best psychological assessment tools to provide objective feedback to assist you in making effective recruitment and selection decisions. SHK leverages the most commonly embraced, rigourous and predictive tests of intellectual ability, combined with the most robust and broad based personality measure, and teh most helpful interest inventories and questionnaires, as the bases of its suite of assessments. SHK is not restricted by the use of proprietary products, preferring to select the tools that will meet the needs of an individual assignment.
The SHK approach
- Discuss, clarify and confirm your requirements and expectations of assessment to create an entirely customised assessment for each candidate. We will confirm what information you require to assist in making a recruitment decision. This will ensure the psychological data is meaningful, relevant and helpful.
- Select appropriate abilities and personality tests – for example: conceptual reasoning, verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, verbal critical reasoning, numerical critical reasoning and broad based personality testing that is robust and predictive of behaviour and ability (CPI).
- All tests used norm referenced; standardised; have strong construct, face and criterion validity; and are in the domain for use by registered psychologists only (not HR practitioners, recruitment consultants or other professionals).
- Conduct a telephone-based discussion with each candidate to provide them witha briefing on the psychological assessment process and answer questions.
- Administer assessments in SHK (and affiliate) fully proctored environments.
- Registered psychologists will conduct test room interviews to ensure assessments are interpreted in context.
- Verbal feedback will be provided within 24 hours.
- Detailed feedback will be provided to candidates after a selection decision has been made.
- A custom developed, written report by a senior and experienced psychologist will be provided. This will include a summary of strengths and areas for development; abilities results and relevance to potential roles; behaviour style profiling (key features of personality, approach to work, approach to interacting with others and problem solving style); and suggestions for motivating, managing and developing the individual.
SHK ensures that feedback delivered is commercial and relevant - relaying behaviours that are predicted under certain circumstances as opposed to general psychological/personality descriptions. The type of responses usually received during feedback sessions include: “no one has ever noticed or said that about me before” and ‘that sounds like me”. We provide development suggestions and referrals that are grounded in reality and cost effective.
