About the organisation
The Department of Health plays a critical role in meeting the health needs of Victorians into the future. They lead the Victorian Government’s public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic and are responsible for the Health and Ambulance Services, Mental Health and Ageing portfolios. About the role
There has never been a more exciting and challenging time to take on the coveted role of CFO within the Department of Health. Following the de-merger from Human Services and the establishment of a shared services function and with a new operational plan focussed on reform, the CFO will play a key role in settling the team, driving continued automation and realising significant savings. Understanding the future landscape and the complexities of the health funding model, harvesting productivity, managing people and relationships with the hospital networks, driving financial accountability and good financial control processes and acting as an intermediary between the Department of Treasury & Finance and the executive leadership team - are the key pillars to success in this role. Reporting to the Secretary, Department of Treasury and Finance and the Department of Health Deputy Secretary – Corporate Services you will ensure effective management of the Department's budget priorities.
CA/CPA qualified, supported with extensive experience as an influential and strategic CFO with a track record of leading high-performing finance functions in large complex organisations - ideally within health, government or publicly funded environments. A genuine relationship builder, with an ability to identify opportunities for meaningful transformation and collaborate widely to find solutions, you will possess a willingness to learn, flexible approach & resilience. The role requires a high level of technical financial management capability and knowledge of governance frameworks, strengths in strategic analysis, statutory reporting and budgeting.
