About the role
In this newly created role, the Director, Business Development will play a pivotal leadership role in identifying and securing major accounts from multinational companies across all physical science industries including Engineering, Energy and Renewable Energy, Aerospace and Defence, Manufacturing, Health and Medicine. Reporting to, and working closely with, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise and Engagement) and Senior Vice President, this highly visible position will develop a wide range of new collaborative, commercial and translational research opportunities with industry, government and innovation networks in Australia and globally. Critical to success in this role is growing research funding from diverse sources and increasing multifaceted collaborations with business, industry and other organisations. Leveraging a deep knowledge of best practice, the appointee will inspire others and generate momentum, build strong relationships to lead the delivery of key strategies.
As an experienced Business Development Director with extensive experience in physical science industries you have an impressive track record in a multi-layered environment and demonstrate well-honed key and strategic account management capabilities. Adept at driving collaborations, building relationships (external and internal) and identifying opportunities, you are accomplished in working with a range of partners, including government, industry, universities, other institutions, agencies and funding bodies. You have proven ability to navigate complex systems and drive multiple partnership approaches and collaborations. As a confident communicator with a high EQ and outstanding interpersonal skills, you are adept at negotiating and influencing decision making at a senior level to generate buy-in and commitment to a change agenda.
