About the role
Reporting to the Chief Engagement Officer, the Director External Relations will lead philanthropy (HNW, Trusts & Foundations and corporates), alumni relations, strategic partnerships, communication and events. The role will build and shape a team, and is integral to strengthening and diversifying revenue streams and for meeting visibility, engagement and impact objectives. With a focus on growing philanthropic and major gift revenue including significant gifts, the appointee will establish the strategy for external positioning of the school for the purpose of achieving fundraising targets. It will provide expert philanthropic counsel to the Board, Deans and stakeholders, develop the team capability, and identify new opportunities for philanthropic support, partnerships and collaborations. The role will also lead the growth of alumni relations and work with stakeholders to shape and define the organisation’s value proposition for funders and partners.
About you
You are a major gift fundraising and engagement leader with a track record of revenue growth and achieving financial targets. You have contemporary best-practice major gift fundraising experience gained in education, health, medical research, welfare, conservation, arts or other relevant for-purpose organisations. Your demonstrated experience in designing and implementing major campaigns or strategic fundraising programs with a strong focus on major gifts, corporates and trusts & foundations, is underpinned by your skills in cultivating and maintaining high-level relationships with donors, alumni and executives. You have successfully established external relations strategy and managed business planning and P&L, and thrive in challenging markets and complex environments. Your expertise in closing $1M+ gifts, high EQ and proven change leadership ability will see you inspire and motivate a diverse external relations team and transform philanthropic growth.
