About the role
Reporting to the General Counsel & Executive Director of Legal & Risk, the Director of Risk & Assurance will lead the implementation of a newly combined team and operating model. This includes providing strategic leadership for a combined portfolio that includes risk and regulatory compliance management, audit, assurance, and insurance. With oversight of a large, multi-disciplinary team that services the University as a whole, the appointee will coordinate the provision of independent and objective audit and assurance activities, the implementation of a 3-5 year audit plan, and the delivery of effective systems and processes for risk and compliance management. With a domestic and international focus, the role will partner with executive and senior management to ensure strategic and operational risks are aligned and assurance operates in a proactive and agile fashion. The position will have an independent reporting line into the Chair of the University’s Audit & Risk committee.
You are a strategic risk management and assurance executive and trusted advisor whose expertise has been honed in a ‘big four’, or in a similar role in a large corporate organisation, with a demonstrated ability to drive and embed cultural change and create a best practice, cohesive, high performing team. You have significant experience operating in a proactive and dynamic environment with a multitude of regulatory compliance obligations involving multiple stakeholders, adopting a collaborative mindset, exercising commercial judgement, and building productive cross-functional relationships that facilitate informed business decisions and achieve organisational outcomes.
