Reporting to the General Counsel and Executive Director of Legal and Risk, the Director of Risk, Audit and Compliance will lead the implementation of a newly defined operating model, providing strategic leadership for a combined portfolio that includes risk and regulatory compliance management, audit, assurance, and insurance. With oversight of a large, multi-disciplinary team that services the University as a whole, the appointee will coordinate the provision of independent and objective audit and assurance activities, the implementation of a 3-5 year audit plan, and the delivery of effective systems and processes for crisis management. With a domestic and international focus, the role will partner with executive and senior management to ensure strategic and operational risks are aligned and assurance operates in a proactive and agile fashion. The position will have an independent reporting line into the Chair of the University’s Audit and Risk committee.
You are a strategic risk management and assurance executive who is viewed as a trusted advisor with a demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and create a cohesive, high performing team. You have significant experience operating in a proactive and dynamic environment with regulatory compliance obligations involving multiple stakeholders. Having honed your expertise in a ‘big four’ firm, or in a similar role in a large corporate organisation, you adopt a collaborative mindset, exercise commercial judgement, and build productive cross-functional relationships that facilitate informed business decisions and achieve organisational outcomes. This is an empowered leadership role that will be proactive in supporting the University’s strategy to ensure risk and reputation are managed effectively.
