Long term strategic agenda
Lead a newly established specialist branch
Within the Victorian Government’s Department of Transport, Freight Victoria is a dedicated, specialist division tasked with boosting Victoria’s freight advantage. Freight Victoria’s strategic plan, Delivering the Goods, sets out a path to increase Victoria’s gross product by $40 billion by 2040 by shifting more freight onto rail, developing new inland freight terminals and creating a new freight precinct adjacent to the Port of Melbourne.
As a senior leader reporting directly to a Deputy Secretary, the Executive Director Freight Victoria leads a high performing team in developing, implementing and delivering government policy, planning and programs across Victoria’s rapidly growing transport network as they relate to ports and freight, with particular focus on delivering key initiatives under the Victorian Freight Plan. As the key contact point for industry, the Executive Director Freight Victoria will work constructively across the sector on opportunities to improve freight outcomes and developing a focused and coordinated approach to freight across the department. Within and across government, they will also influence the development of future transport plans and strategies through an evidence-based understanding of the growth in freight, the future transport needs of industry sectors and emergence of disruptive technologies to enable a sustainable, efficient transport network.

A strong advocate for freight, you are able to clearly articulate the value of the sector to the economy and public. As a leader you are values-oriented, with the ability to empower and inspire a high performing leadership team to drive for results. In person you are a clear and pragmatic communicator with a strategic mindset and the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and compelling manner.
