Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI) is a Victorian Government entity, and an integrated skills provider that brings together education, assessment, and learning with 150-year history that helps inform our future. BKI brings together four brands: Bendigo TAFE, Kangan Institute, VETASSESS and eWorks, to connect people and industries with the transformative power of education and careers. BKI is one of the largest TAFEs in Victoria with nine campuses stretching from Docklands to Echuca, Australia’s leading authority in qualifications and skills assessment, particularly for skilled migration, and a provider of holistic online solutions and e-learning systems for organisations and education providers.
About the role
The Executive Director Growth is a pivotal new position reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The Growth Portfolio has been established to support the 2030 Strategic Plan – ‘Growth for Impact’. BKI has a role in equipping students and customers with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in a dynamic and complex world. To cater for rising demand, BKI is focused on sustainable growth, through innovation and organisational agility. BKI's aim is to increase accessibility and provide diverse skilling opportunities that meet the needs of its students, customers and the industries it serves. This role is accountable for the business development pipeline for business to business and business to customer, including strategic partnerships to deliver growth, and developing and executing growth strategies, fostering partnerships, and leading efforts to increase enrolment, funding, and sponsorship offerings. The appointee will lead marketing and brand, jobs and skills centre, schools’ teams, and business development both domestically and internationally; to identify new revenue streams, create innovative business models, and explore expansion opportunities. Collaborating with a wide array of stakeholders, the ED will build networks, negotiate partnerships, and ensure the organisation’s growth aligns with purpose and strategic priorities.
About you
You are an experienced and commercially astute leader with a proven track record in driving business development and delivering on growth targets in complex environments. You bring exceptional strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership capabilities, enabling you to execute growth initiatives that enhance impact, profitability, and sustainability. Your ability to navigate public sector challenges while leveraging private sector opportunities sets you apart, as does your expertise in creating market-driven strategies for local and international success. You have strong commercial acumen, data-driven decision-making skills, and the drive to lead teams through significant growth while fostering a culture of accountability and high performance. Your key qualities include expertise in business development, strategic planning, and revenue growth; strong leadership and relationship-building skills; a collaborative and innovative approach to identifying new opportunities; and a passion for education, skills development, and making a meaningful impact.
