About the role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Manager, People & Safety is responsible for designing, implementing and monitoring the people and safety strategies. This includes bringing to life the Strategic Workforce Plan and Gender Equality Action Plan. In this strategic and operational role, the appointee will lead a team covering the workplace relations, learning and organisational development, safety and wellbeing, and people operations portfolios, building on solid foundations and reinforcing the team’s engaged and client-centric culture. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the position contributes to the achievement of the overall vision and Council Plan, and is a senior advisor on all people and safety-related matters.
About you
You are an experienced and highly regarded human resources executive who has led the people function in a local government, statutory authority, healthcare or similar complex organisation. An inclusion and diversity ambassador, you are well-versed in people experience, employee relations (including enterprise agreements) and safety. Adept at enabling organisational change, you are a champion of continuous improvement. Hands-on and with a ‘can-do’ attitude, you flex seamlessly between operational and strategic issues, and authentically and actively seek to engage at all levels of an organisation. A proven, naturally engaging and authentic leader, you inspire high-performance and client centricity. Your reputation as a trusted adviser to the executive is underpinned by your credibility, collaborative style, and exceptional influencing and interpersonal skills. You relish the opportunity to make a significant contribution through the people agenda to building local identity, community wellbeing, and social cohesion in a dynamic and diverse local government area.
