About the role
The Head of Department is responsible for high-level strategic and disciplinary leadership. This includes implementing University and School strategies and plans within the Department, and ensuring that relevant targets and performance indicators are met. The position will have a particular focus on leading, supporting and managing the Department’s academic staff, programs, performance and resources. Critical to success in this role will be pursuing excellence, impact, and continued improvement in all aspects of the Department’s academic work, including the delivery of teaching programs, research and industry engagement.

A professor with a track record of outstanding academic achievement, you are a leader in a field of education and research relevant to the Department’s three disciplines (‘Plant Science’, ‘Crop Science’ and ‘Animal Physiology and Health’). Results-focused and adept at developing and implementing effective strategies and plans, you ensure alignment with overarching strategic goals. Underpinning your exceptional leadership capabilities are your well-honed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, and your ability to inspire and motivate. You have built and supervised teams and managed resources, and naturally establish strong relationships with existing and potential staff members, government and industry.
