The Australian Institute for Infectious Disease (AIID) is a visionary initiative from the University and two of Victoria’s leading institutions, the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity and the Burnet Institute for Medical Research and Public Health. With backing from the Victorian Government as the major supporting partner, the AIID is designed to protect Australia and the region against infectious disease and future pandemics and deliver a new purpose-built facility.
About the role
Reporting to the Director Strategic Communications and with a dotted line report to the Executive Director AIID, the Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Lead is responsible for the development and execution of communications and stakeholder engagement activities to support and promote the AIID. This includes developing an integrated internal and external communications plan (including media relations), events, content programs, and a range of communications materials to amplify and promote the purpose and progress of the AIID, among partners, key stakeholders and the wider community. The appointee will work closely with other functions across the University including Government Relations and Advancement, collaborate with the AIID Foundation Partners and the Victorian Government, and increase awareness of the AIID locally and globally.
About you
You are a proven communications and stakeholder leader with experience in integrated communications, stakeholder engagement and public relations strategy in a large complex organisation. You have a track record of working within a complex environment to create and produce promotional collateral for multiple audiences, managing events and delivering content across a range of channels. This includes developing communications strategies, managing issues and collaborating and engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders. Your high political awareness, outstanding relationship management skills, resilient style and focus on outcomes will see you succeed in this ground-breaking and meaningful visionary initiative.
