About the organisation
The AFL Players’ Association is the official representative body for current and past AFL and AFLW players. Founded in 1973, the organisation now serves over 800 AFL players, 550 AFLW players, and nearly 5,000 past players. The AFLPA is a key stakeholder within the industry, advocating for players’ rights, interests, and wellbeing. Through its commitment to integrity, inclusion, innovation and member-centric leadership, the AFLPA fosters a culture where athletes thrive both on and off the field.
About the role
The AFLPA is seeking a visionary and values-driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organisation into its next chapter. The CEO will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the AFLPA, ensuring it remains a trusted voice for current and past players. This includes developing organisational strategy, championing collective bargaining, and cultivating effective relationships with clubs, the AFL, and wider industry stakeholders. The CEO will spearhead programmes that support player welfare, professional development, and advocacy, while guiding the AFLPA’s commercial and marketing activities. Central to success will be steadfast ethical leadership, robust governance, and sustained member engagement.
