About the organisation

Primary Health Tasmania is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to connecting care and helping Tasmanians stay well and out of hospital. Established in 2015 as one of 31 Primary Health Networks (PHNs) across Australia, it is funded by the Australian Government to coordinate, commission and capacity build primary care and mental health services and the workforce to create high-quality healthcare solutions with the Tasmanian community. 


About the role

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of Primary Health Tasmania’s business operations systems and processes. As CEO, the role provides vital executive leadership ensuring a lean, scalable organisation that maximises efficiency, effectiveness, and capability to support key programs, commissioning functions and service delivery. Critical to success in this role will be navigating the complexities of the primary health environment and delivering outcomes amid change and challenges. The CEO is also accountable for building a culture of excellence, embedding high performance, developing staff and ensuring the organisation is equipped to meet future talent needs.


About you

You are a seasoned and strategic leader with a strong track record in executive roles spanning governance, stakeholder engagement, and strategic development. With deep experience in the health and community services sectors, you bring a collaborative, team-focused leadership style and proven people management capability. You have worked closely with Boards, overseen corporate compliance, and successfully led organisations through growth and change. Your expertise includes high-level risk management, policy development, and financial oversight, underpinned by excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Highly autonomous and adaptable, you excel in complex, dynamic environments, and leverage innovation and influence to build networks, drive outcomes and foster meaningful partnerships. You have a solid insight into Australian Government grant funding frameworks, and contemporary program evaluation and management approaches, and are known for your ability to lead across silos, stay agile under pressure, and operate with integrity and clarity.
