About the role

The Director – Aboriginal Engagement and Partnerships is responsible for leading a directorate in the development of strong and trusted partnerships with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians, providing strategic direction and culturally sound advice to guide place-based teams across Parks Victoria. Reporting to the CEO, this executive role provides leadership and support in the joint management of parks and reserves, cultural heritage protection, and Aboriginal employment and cultural safety programs in the organisation. As a key member of the Senior Executive Committee, the Director plays a vital role in embedding self-determination, and ensuring that Parks Victoria is at the forefront in supporting Traditional Owner’s aspirations for protecting and healing Country, and improving employment outcomes, cultural wellbeing and economic prosperity.

This position is classified as an “identified position” aimed at increasing employment opportunities for Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of Aboriginal culture and an ability to communicate with Aboriginal communities. Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.


About the person

You are a respected leader with deep knowledge of Aboriginal cultures, communities and legal frameworks. You bring experience in building strong partnerships with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians, and a commitment to cultural safety, inclusion and empowerment. You work collaboratively with peers and across the organisation, lead with integrity, and are passionate about delivering real outcomes for people, Country and community.
