Within RIC, the Innovation and Enterprise Group drives business development, industry partnerships, precinct activation, and major research collaborations.


About the role

The Executive Director, Innovation and Enterprise plays a major part in delivering the University's bold, global 'Excellence for Impact' research strategy at the #13 ranked university in the world (QS 2024). As a key member of RIC and University leadership, the Executive Director plays an important role in supporting industry engaged research translation and impact through developing and implementing strategies to step-change outcomes through business development and industry partnerships across the University and innovation precincts. The Executive Director works across RIC, the University and externally including industry partners, government agencies and international organisations. Other duties involve leading activation of the university's Innovation Precincts and attracting industry to set up on campus. The Executive Director also supports major mission-driven research programs, Impact Accelerators, enterprise-wide multi-collaborator proposals, managing the university's Major Opportunities development process and securing success in research translation and impact-related grant schemes.


About you

You are a highly successful research translation leader with passion for supporting industry engaged research translation and impact within higher education contexts. You have proven your relationship management abilities in a complex organisation with multiple stakeholders including industry, government, investor and entrepreneurial groups, with the proven ability to close deals and secure repeat business. Your outstanding communication and engagement skills enable you to build meaningful, trusted relationships with academics and professional staff at all levels, inspiring confidence among researchers, academics, and industry stakeholders in your ability to successfully deliver the University’s ambitious research strategy. With a deep appreciation for the role of universities in driving innovation and generating economic growth, you understand the levers and challenges of translating research into impact.
