- High-profile organisation shaping the future of Victorian business
- Lead commercial performance, member growth and customer experience
- Drive transformation, innovation and long-term strategic value
About the organisation
The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is Victoria’s leading independent business organisation, representing more than 100,000 businesses ranging from sole traders and entrepreneurs to some of the state’s largest enterprises. A trusted authority across workplace relations, training, international trade, work health and safety and policy advocacy, VCCI plays a critical role in shaping the economic and commercial future of Victoria.
The organisation’s influence extends beyond advocacy. Through Committee for Melbourne — Victoria’s leading urban policy and business leadership network — VCCI helps shape the future prosperity, sustainability and liveability of Melbourne, bringing together business, government and community leaders to influence the city’s long-term direction and success.
VCCI continues to deliver the nationally significant Apprenticeship Support Australia program, supporting workforce participation, employer capability and skills development across a large and diverse customer base.
With an ambitious transformation and growth agenda underway, the organisation is strengthening its commercial capability, member experience and market impact to ensure it continues to deliver meaningful value to Victorian business and the broader community.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive and as a member of the executive team, this is a significant commercial and strategic leadership role with accountability for VCCI’s member ecosystem, commercial performance and service delivery experience across a broad and influential portfolio.
Leading the Committee for Melbourne & Member Success portfolio, you will oversee member engagement, retention, commercial growth and service delivery across VCCI’s membership and customer platforms, including Committee for Melbourne and the organisation’s contribution to the nationally significant Apprenticeship Support Australia program.
The role carries responsibility for commercial P&L performance and the end-to-end member value chain, shaping strategies that strengthen member lifetime value, deepen engagement and deliver sustainable revenue growth while enhancing customer and stakeholder experience.
Working closely with the executive team, you will help shape organisational direction and performance while ensuring commercial thinking, member insight and customer experience remain central to decision-making. You will partner closely with the Chief Growth Officer to optimise the conversion pipeline and create a seamless member journey from acquisition through to long-term engagement and advocacy.
This role requires a contemporary commercial leader who can combine strategy with execution, build high-performing and accountable teams, and lead through transformation. You will champion data-informed decision-making, embed smarter ways of working and leverage technology and AI-enabled capability to improve performance, customer experience and operational effectiveness.
With significant visibility internally and externally, the role also plays an important part in strengthening VCCI’s market position, reputation and influence across the Victorian business community.
About you
You are an accomplished commercial executive with a strong track record leading customer, membership, revenue or service-led functions within a complex organisation. You bring genuine commercial acumen together with a deep appreciation of customer and member value, and you know how to translate strategy into measurable business outcomes.
You are both strategic and hands-on — comfortable shaping direction while maintaining a strong focus on execution, performance and accountability. Your experience includes leading cross-functional teams, driving revenue growth, improving customer or member retention and building cultures that are commercially disciplined, service-oriented and high performing.
An influential and credible leader, you engage effectively with executive stakeholders, Boards, government and external partners. You bring presence, sound judgement and the ability to navigate complexity with confidence and clarity.
Importantly, you are energised by growth, transformation and impact. You are excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of one of Victoria’s most influential organisations while delivering meaningful outcomes for the business community it serves.
