are-able is a regional not-for-profit organisation delivering employment, disability, youth, family, training and community support services across rural and regional Victoria, South Australia and Far North Queensland. About the role
Reporting to the Board and based in Warrnambool, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) leads are-able's Executive Leadership Team and holds accountability for the organisation's strategic direction, financial sustainability, service quality and community impact. The CEO sets and executes long-term strategy, ensures strong governance and regulatory compliance, and maintains a transparent and high-functioning relationship with the Board. Financial stewardship is central to the role, encompassing revenue diversification, funding optimisation across NDIS, grants and contracts, and the growth of social enterprises. The CEO also serves as are-able's primary external advocate, building influential relationships with government, regulators, peak bodies and community partners, and contributing to policy and sector reform. Internally, the CEO fosters a culture of inclusion, accountability and continuous improvement across a complex, multi-site organisation operating in a heavily regulated environment.
About you
You are a respected executive with significant leadership experience as a CEO, Executive Director or equivalent, gained within the not-for-profit, disability, health or community services sectors. Your experience spans strategy development and execution, financial management at comparable organisational scale, and effective governance partnership with a Board of Directors. You have an understanding of the NDIS, disability employment services and government-funded operating environments, and you bring demonstrated success in growing organisations through social enterprise or commercial service delivery within an NFP context. A clear and persuasive communicator at all levels, you are a credible public advocate and an effective relationship builder across government and community. You lead with purpose, and your approach to building and retaining high-performing, mission-driven teams reflects the values you bring to your work.
