About the Role

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) leads the Finance Directorate and is a key member of the Austin Health Executive.

Operating in a complex environment, the CFO drives financial strategy, sustainability, and performance to target, to support the delivery of high-quality healthcare for patients and to secure Austin Health’s position as a leading tertiary teaching and research facility. The CFO will help cultivate a strong culture, ensure robust financial stewardship, and engage effectively with key government bodies, funding agencies, and stakeholders at all levels. Financial resilience will be a key priority, with a focus on innovation and improved business intelligence. Inheriting a skilled finance team (6 direct reports and 200+ staff), the CFO will lead across core finance functions: Business Partnering/FP&A, Financial Control, Health Information Services, Business Intelligence, Procurement & Supply, and Enterprise Risk. Having recently implemented a new Financial Management Information System (FMIS), the CFO will also ensure these systems improve efficiency and financial oversight.

A CA/CPA-qualified and values-driven financial leader, you bring a proven track record of strategic financial leadership in complex organisations, including health, or publicly funded environments. Adept at driving transformation, you excel in navigating complex funding landscapes, optimising financial performance, and fostering commercially agile finance functions. An influential executive and trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, you have exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to inspire a high-performing team. With strong analytical capabilities and a deep understanding of financial levers and business drivers, you are passionate about delivering sustainable financial outcomes that support both strategic and community impact.
