- Enterprise-wide technology accountability
- Statewide 24/7 emergency healthcare
- Enabling best care for Victorians
About the organisation
Ambulance Victoria (AV) brings patient-focused, out-of-hospital, mobile and emergency healthcare to the Victorian community. Operating 24/7 across Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria, the organisation depends on a secure and resilient technology environment to support its frontline services. AV's Patient Care Commitment is to provide care that is caring, safe, effective and connected for every patient, every time, underpinned by the values of care, accountability, respect and excellence. Within this organisation, technology is positioned as a strategic enabler of service reform, innovation and improved organisational performance.
About the role
Reporting to the Executive Director Enterprise Services, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) holds enterprise-wide accountability for AV's technology, digital and data enablement strategy, and for the performance, security and resilience of its technology environment. The CIO will lead the evolution of a secure, integrated and contemporary technology ecosystem, driving digital transformation, technology modernisation and service improvement across the organisation. This includes technology strategy and architecture, IT service delivery, cyber security, data and AI enablement, and portfolio, investment and vendor management. Working in partnership with clinical, operational and corporate leaders, the CIO will translate organisational priorities into digital capabilities. These will see a modernisation of services, increased interoperability with health, emergency services and government partners, and improved patient outcomes and employee experience. Key to success will be leading organisational and cultural change, ensuring technology investment delivers measurable value, and providing authoritative advice to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board.
About you
You are a commercially astute technology executive with experience leading a large-scale, complex technology function within a highly operational, service-based or similarly multifaceted organisation. Experience in government, health, emergency services, critical infrastructure or another heavily regulated environment will be well regarded. You have led large scale digital and technology transformation and bring strong commercial capability across operating and capital budgets, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation and the management of outsourced and managed services. An inspiring people leader, you build high-performing, accountable and service-oriented teams, and foster a culture in which people constructively challenge existing practices and take accountability for outcomes. Your understanding of cyber security, data, AI and emerging technology, combined with sound strategic judgement, allows you to advise and influence boards and executive leaders on significant technology and investment matters. Tertiary qualified in information technology, computer science, information systems, business or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications well received), you recognise this a rare opportunity to have state-wide impact.
