  • Build workforce capability for transformation
  • Purpose-led, customer-owned bank, backing teachers and nurses
  • Enabling growth strategy that delivers social impact

Yours for the making

Forget what you think you know about banking. We do things differently here. We exist to back teachers and nurses — building a bank designed entirely around them.

We’re a customer-owned Australian bank with a clear purpose: making every money moment better. While our organisation has evolved, that deep connection to our purpose is stronger than ever. And now, we're scaling new heights. We’re more than a bank — we’re building something that gives back in real, everyday ways.

The difference you’ll make

As Chief People and Strategy Officer (CPSO) you are a critical member of the executive team and key adviser to the CEO, Board and its Committees. Your leadership will enable the organisation through a major strategic and operating model transition, bringing the Bank First strategy to life every day, owning the people and workforce dimensions of its execution as well as maturing the impact of the Strategy function. You’ll translate strategic intent into real, future-proofed workforce choices across culture, leadership, capability and organisational design. Accountability spans the full breadth of the people function together with strategy and corporate services. Leading the annual strategic planning process with the CEO and Board, accountable for strategy insights and reporting aligned to enterprise KPIs, ensuring the Bank operates as one team, consistently delivering on its commitment to members. The overarching expectation is sustainable growth, building the leadership and workforce systems that make transformation stick.

Who we’re looking for

You’re a highly regarded and impactful strategy and people executive, but not a ‘classic’ one. A Chief People Officer or equivalent, ideally complemented by a background in Strategy, you will have commercial and operational experience, you push the boundaries of tradition, and demonstrate proven ability in integrating strategy and people functions at an enterprise level. With a background ideally in fintech or financial services, you possess a nuanced appreciation of operating within a regulated environment. You are obsessed with capability, having redesigned organisations, spanning structures, operating models, decision rights and frameworks. Your practical understanding of how artificial intelligence, automation and digital platforms reshape workforce composition underpin your capabilities as an architect of simple and elegant workforce planning and reskilling solutions to support significant operating model or technological transformation. An energetic, people-first leader with an enterprise mindset and immediate credibility with boards, you bring the steadiness and authority needed to anchor an exceptional, member-focused organisation through exponential growth and deliberate change.

Why Bank First?

Our priority isn’t just profit. It’s about giving back. This unique balance of accountability and social purpose is how we succeed and make a positive difference in our communities and for our people.

At Bank First, you’ll find:

  • The chance you’ve been waiting to take: You won’t be boxed in — you’ll shape a career that sets you apart.
  • The difference you’re ready to make: Building our bold legacy and do what other banks don’t and better serve teachers and nurses.
  • The bank you’ll want to create: Shaping the future of purpose-driven banking with a team that values you as a whole person.
