• Procurement transformation across Victoria's iconic tram network

• Shaping infrastructure for millions of Victorians

• Values driven by safety, ethics, sustainability and social impact

About the organisation

Yarra Trams is proudly operated by Yarra Journey Makers, a joint venture between Transdev Australia and John Holland, and holds the distinction of operating the world's largest tram network connecting millions of Victorians every day. More than simply moving people, Yarra Trams is committed to delivering a world-class service that makes a real difference in the lives of thousands of passengers every day. Over the next decade, the organisation is renewing fleets, modernising infrastructure, digitising rail systems, and fundamentally transforming how it buys and manages services. Central to this is the establishment of a high-performing, digitally enabled procurement function designed to unlock better value from every dollar spent and support a more reliable, safer, and sustainable network. Yarra Trams is building a procurement model with a ten-plus year horizon, one grounded in clear strategy, disciplined execution and a culture that blends commercial rigour with genuine value. This includes diversifying supply chains, embedding modern slavery and ethical sourcing safeguards, and growing the number of indigenous and local suppliers to create skills and jobs for Victoria.

About the roles

Yarra Trams is calling for Expressions of Interest across a range of Procurement roles, to be housed within a newly established operating model. The model combines category leadership, business partnering, data-driven decision-making, and governance, with a clear horizon toward AI-enabled insights and streamlined process. Available roles span several streams: Procurement Excellence; Ethical Supply Chain and Social Value; Governance and Buying Enablement; Supplier Relationship Management and Partnerships; and Category and Commercial functions supporting sourcing and contract management activities. With opportunities available to suit a range of experience levels, these are substantive roles with real accountability, shepherding the full value chain from external spend through to revenue. The function is being designed with the intent of building industry leading standards, playbooks, and capabilities that will serve as a model for others to follow.

About you

You are a procurement, commercial, engineering or consulting professional with relevant and transferrable experience and a strong interest in building your career in one or more of the streams listed above. You are comfortable working with numbers, markets, and complex commercial trade-offs, and you have the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders via listening, adapting, and constructively challenging where necessary. This will be matched by your intellectual curiosity about how data, systems, AI and digital tools can simplify and strengthen procurement practice. You care about ethics, sustainability, and social value, and you understand how procurement decisions translate into real-world outcomes. Whether you come from the public or private sector, you are drawn to the opportunity to help build something from the ground up and to develop capabilities that will serve you throughout your career. Tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, engineering, finance, economics, analytics, or a related field are expected. Candidates from consulting, infrastructure, transport, digital, defence or major project environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
