  • Establish enterprise risk framework
  • Key public transport provider
  • Strengthen governance for Melbourne's trams

About the organisation

Yarra Trams operates Melbourne’s iconic tram network, the world’s largest, and plays a critical role in keeping the city moving. With more than 20 million passenger trips taken each year, Yarra Trams connects thousands of people with places every day. Now proudly operated by Yarra Journey Makers (YJM), a joint venture between Transdev Australia and John Holland, and partnering with the Department of Transport and Planning, transport agencies and operators, YJM is leading one of the most significant transport modernisation programs in Australia. With a deep commitment to safety, sustainability, and delivering a world-class passenger experience, there is now significant focus from the board and executive to establish a formal enterprise risk framework. This will support a shift from a reactive to a more strategic and proactive approach to managing non-safety related risks.

About the role

Reporting to the Director, Legal, Risk and Compliance, the Manager, Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit is a role solely responsible for establishing the enterprise risk management and internal audit functions. The Manager will develop, implement, and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, consistent with ISO31000, and refresh all key documentation including the risk appetite statement for board approval. This position will also develop a risk-based internal audit plan and provide strategic advice on the future structure of the function, including the coordination of external providers. A key accountability will be to facilitate an uplift in risk literacy and capability across the business.

About you

You are a risk professional with proven experience establishing and implementing enterprise risk management frameworks. With mandatory tertiary qualifications in a field such as finance, business, or accounting, you possess a strong knowledge of ISO31000. Your advanced stakeholder engagement and influencing skills allow you to provide advice to senior leaders and the board. You are resilient, able to navigate organisational change, and can operate with a high degree of autonomy in a role requiring significant build and implementation. Experience within government or complex infrastructure environments will be highly regarded.
