  • Lead ethical sourcing and social procurement
  • Decisions that impact the daily lives of millions of Victorians
  • Values driven by safety, ethics, sustainability and social impact

About the organisation

Yarra Trams is proudly operated by Yarra Journey Makers, a joint venture between Transdev Australia and John Holland, and holds the distinction of operating the world's largest tram network connecting millions of Victorians every day. More than simply moving people, Yarra Trams is committed to delivering world-class service that makes a real difference in the lives of thousands of passengers every day. Over the next decade, the organisation is renewing fleets, modernising infrastructure, digitising rail systems, and fundamentally transforming how it buys and manages services. Central to this is the establishment of a high-performing, digitally enabled procurement function designed to unlock better value from every dollar spent and support a more reliable, safer, and sustainable network. Yarra Trams is building a procurement model with a ten-plus year horizon - one grounded in clear strategy, disciplined execution, and a culture that blends commercial rigour with genuine public value. This includes diversifying supply chains, embedding modern slavery and ethical sourcing safeguards, and growing Indigenous and local suppliers to create skills and jobs for Victoria.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Procurement Excellence, the Manager, Ethical Supply Chain & Social Value leads the integration of ESG, Modern Slavery, First Nations Procurement and Social Procurement across Yarra Trams' supply base. The role develops and maintains the overarching ethical supply chain framework, translating regulatory requirements and corporate commitments into practical policies, tools and standards. The appointee will lead the First Nations and Social Procurement Strategy end-to-end from pipeline development and tender design through to supplier development and contract KPIs, whilst managing the Modern Slavery risk program including risk mapping, due diligence, audit and remediation. The role also coordinates the annual Modern Slavery Statement and other ESG disclosures, and partners with procurement, sustainability, legal and government relations teams to embed social value requirements into sourcing processes and category strategies. Representing the organisation in relevant industry and government forums is also a component of the role.

About you

You have substantive experience in one or more of ethical sourcing, Modern Slavery and human rights, Indigenous procurement or social procurement with both commercial and reporting accountability. Your working knowledge of Modern Slavery legislation, Indigenous procurement frameworks and ESG standards is applied and practical - you know how to embed these requirements into contracts, supplier onboarding and category strategies rather than simply add them as compliance overlays. You are comfortable with data, dashboards and narrative reporting for senior audiences, and you can build a compelling business case for social value outcomes at multiple levels of an organisation. Experience delivering Indigenous and social procurement outcomes in infrastructure, transport or other asset-intensive sectors is strongly regarded. You are highly consultative, evidence-based and pragmatic, with the relationship-building capability to work constructively across procurement teams, operational functions, government stakeholders, community organisations and suppliers.
