About the organisation
Yarra Trams is proudly operated by Yarra Journey Makers, a joint venture between Transdev Australia and John Holland, and holds the distinction of operating the world's largest tram network connecting millions of Victorians every day. More than simply moving people, Yarra Trams is committed to delivering world-class service that makes a real difference in the lives of thousands of passengers every day. Over the next decade, the organisation is renewing fleets, modernising infrastructure, digitising rail systems, and fundamentally transforming how it buys and manages services. Central to this is the establishment of a high-performing, digitally enabled procurement function designed to unlock better value from every dollar spent and support a more reliable, safer, and sustainable network. Yarra Trams is building a procurement model with a ten-plus year horizon - one grounded in clear strategy, disciplined execution, and a culture that blends commercial rigour with genuine public value. This includes diversifying supply chains, embedding modern slavery and ethical sourcing safeguards, and growing Indigenous and local suppliers to create skills and jobs for Victoria.
About the roles
YJM is recruiting a number of Sourcing & Contract Advisor roles across two levels of seniority within its Finance and Procurement function, reporting into each of the Strategic Procurement Managers. The Senior Sourcing & Contracts Advisor will lead sourcing and contracting activity across a defined portfolio or sub-category pipeline, developing multi-year category strategies, negotiation and execution of commercial agreements including MSAs and service contracts, whilst mentoring junior team members. The Sourcing and Contracts Advisor will support sourcing initiatives across defined spend categories, leads end-to-end sourcing events, drafts and negotiates commercial agreements, and maintains contract and obligation registers. Across both roles, the emphasis is on outcome-focused delivery, commercial rigour, data-first analysis, and constructive stakeholder influence.
About you
At the Advisor level, you are an early-career professional with a background in consulting, commercial, finance, engineering, operations, data or a related discipline. You are comfortable with numbers, trade-offs, and real-world business problems, and you communicate with precision in both written and verbal forms. You take ownership seriously, bring genuine curiosity about markets and contracts, and are willing to develop your procurement skills in a fast-paced environment. At the Senior Advisor level, you bring demonstrated experience in procurement, contracting, or commercial advisory work, with the analytical and influencing skills to translate that expertise into meaningful business outcomes. You are confident negotiating complex commercial arrangements, structuring business cases for executive audiences, and managing supplier relationships with rigour. Your judgement is sound, your integrity is evident, and you are genuinely curious about how procurement can create value beyond unit price. Tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, engineering, finance, economics, analytics, or a related field are expected. Candidates from consulting, infrastructure, transport, digital, defence, or major project environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
