About the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and collaborating with the executive team, the Director, Experience will role model effective leadership across the organisation to achieve its strategic goals, optimise visitor experience, and inspire current and new audiences. Leading a diverse team of 100+ staff across visitor experience, audience engagement (programming, production, creative, delivery), and brand and audience development (marketing, media, content, communications), the appointee will: create a compelling and inclusive visitor experience, utilising physical and digital spaces; design and implement a comprehensive programming, service and engagement strategy; and leverage the organisation’s mission, brand and identity to engage and grow the full range of users and audiences. The role will evolve a high-performing team, apply rigorous financial management and budgeting, lead integrated communications, innovate services and lifelong learning programs, and champion best-practice visitor experience organisation-wide.
About you
You are a proven cultural sector executive leader with experience gained in the arts, performing arts, large galleries, museums, festivals or other relevant cultural organisations. You are a proven trusted advisor to the CEO and executive, and have led cross-functional teams, including visitor experience, audience engagement and development, programming (creative and production), and marketing and communications. Underpinning your track record driving visitor growth, visitor experience and satisfaction, and maximising capacity of physical and digital spaces and services, are your ability to develop sophisticated complex strategies, commercial mindset, exceptional visionary and change leadership skills, and continuous improvement focus. You are passionate, big-picture and obsessed with visitor experience in cultural organisations.
