The City of Greater Geelong is Victoria’s largest regional municipality providing services to a growing population of 244,000 residents across 1247km2 comprised of urban, suburban, rural and coastal environments located 75km from Melbourne. The spectacular beauty of the natural environment and the creative design and historical significance of its built environment make the municipality a major tourism magnet for local and international visitors.
A key leader in the Governance, Strategy and Research Division, the Manager Corporate Affairs is responsible for leading the City’s communications, marketing, community engagement, government relations and advocacy functions with a key focus on stakeholder management. The Manager will provide expert advice on matters affecting the City’s reputation and stakeholder relationships and supports the organisation to meaningfully engage with the community including identifying opportunities for improvements in the City’s brand impact, and for partnering with stakeholders across the organisation.
You are a values-oriented and highly motivated leader able to clearly articulate the link between communications, marketing, advocacy, community engagement and the wider organisational impact. A credible expert in your field of communication, PR or marketing, you build and manage teams within a changing service focussed environment, with experience ideally gained in public sector contexts. Forward thinking, you are a natural influencer, able to balance responsive priorities and long-term strategies. Critical to your success in this role will be your ability to create an environment focussed on innovation, service excellence, and positive stakeholder relationships.
