DIRECTORS, PRAHRAN MARKET BOARD

- Iconic community asset

  • - Three-year term

  • - Multiple Non-Executive Director appointments

This is your chance to shape the future of the Prahran Market!

Established in 1864, Prahran Market is an iconic community asset owned by the City of Stonnington (Council). It is governed by the Prahran Market Proprietary Limited (PMPL), a standard proprietary limited company. The Market, well-known as a premium food destination, also serves to meet the needs of a diverse population.

Council now seeks to appoint a number of Non-Executive Directors, including a Chair to the PMPL Board, to independently ensure that the decisions regarding the Market are made in the overall best interests of the community.

The Board is responsible for the governance, management and strategic direction for the PMPL and for oversighting the General Manager and the staff in delivering accountable corporate performance.

The Directors, including the Chair, will be appointed based on a range of skills and attributes to facilitate a broadly skilled and effective Board. Demonstrated abilities of collaboration, constructive actions and effective governance on skills-based boards or similar will be well-regarded.

The time commitment is 12 meetings a year on Thursday afternoons 3.30pm to 5.30pm, subcommittee service and considerable reading time around meetings. There is modest remuneration on offer.
