Victorian Interpreting & Translating Service (VITS) LanguageLoop
Victorian Interpreting & Translating Service (VITS) LanguageLoop is a Victorian Government-owned language services provider and a state business corporation under State Owned Enterprises Act 1992 (Vic). The Minister for Multicultural Affairs and the Treasurer have joint responsibility for VITS as a government-owned entity.
VITS provides professional interpreting and translating services to government, commercial, and not-for-profit clients in over 160 languages and is governed by a Board of up to nine (9) Directors, including a Board Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson, responsible to the Minister for Multicultural Affairs.
Led by the Board Chair, VITS’ core mission is to facilitate communication to support equitable participation and access for people with limited English proficiency for all aspects of a diverse Australian society.
With the Deputy Chair and two Board Directors concluding their term in April 2024, the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing is seeking to appoint three outstanding leaders to continue the important work of the VITS LangaugeLoop Board in governing the organisation. Importantly, the Board drives the strategic direction and financial sustainability of the service to promote an Australian society where intersecting forms of diversity are valued, and language is no barrier to full and equal participation for all.

To be considered, you must address the headings on page 7 of the Candidate Information Pack in your CV and submit the completed Application Form. Your documents must be submitted in Microsoft WORD format.

Please note that candidates may be contacted by email or phone (including voicemail), and that the process will take some months into March 2024, or later (so there may be long intervals between communications). Your application will be carefully assessed as per the criteria in the candidate information pack. If shortlisted, you may be later invited to a panel interview on video, or in person and you will be notified of the format to expect. We will advise candidates when decisions are made at different stages.
